With regard to any kind of relationship, trust is the one thing that should always be present. Trust is not only required within your relationships at home, in school, or the more intimate relationship but also in the workplace. At work, if you trust someone you'll have a better working relationship with him or her. With regards to leaders or people with authority, having to establish trust among colleagues will lead to better productivity and efficiency at work. If you're a person with a high position at work or just a staff or worker and would like to know how to establish this trust at work then this article is for you.

These steps would be as follows:

The truth should always be told Telling the truth should be something that should always be done regardless if you are a leader or just a worker. To be honest, there is no such thing as "the truth" which is to be told at work. There are simply details which you have to tell as these would be very important for your colleagues although they may sound not very important for you personally. In case you lie about something, you'll soon have a hard time patching that lie but if you tell the truth in the first place then you'll have no worries. Also, telling the truth can earn you admiration from your colleagues and it will help in building a more intimate relationship with your colleagues.

Do what benefits others

Being a leader or the boss, you should be able to displace the kind of attitude that you want to see from your colleagues or staff - which is by setting an example. You need to be able to keep in mind to always do things for the betterment of others and not only for yourself and as you do this regularly, you'll be surprised to find out that it becomes a habit. Regardless if you're calling the shots or if you are a member of the staff you should always be doing what's good for others. Trust would then be gained as soon as you show signs of including other people within your inner circle.

Consistency

If you want to earn the trust of your colleagues then you definitely should be consistent or treat other people equally. You should treat everyone just like everyone else - no special treatment and no looking down on others. As a leader, you shouldn't have priorities regarding people to consider - give chance to others. Trust can then be easily earned the moment your consistency is visible to others as they see that you are approachable and not treating others like anybody else.

Support and motivate

There is nothing more you can ask from your colleagues than their full support. Helping or supporting others is a genuine act of kindness which instantly enables others to feel close to you thus making them also trust you. This also will indicate that you care for your colleagues and that you want them to have a better situation at work. Simultaneously, this will also bring about the build-up of friendship at work.
