GreenQloud newletter: February 2014

It’s all go here at team GreenQloud! We’ve dived right into 2014 with multiple events, awards and announcements.

Keep reading to find out more about why we’ve partnered with Advania, which big award we recently won and why you should join us at this year’s Cloud Expo Europe.

GreenQloud awarded 'Best Cloud Hosting Provider'

We were delighted to be recognized as the ‘Best Cloud Hosting Provider’ in the 2013-2014 Cloud Awards Program. As one of 200 entrants vying for the coveted titles, we are proud to be recognized by the industry leaders by the Cloud Awards judging panel - thanks guys!

We're also super proud of GreenQloud's co-founders, Eiríkur Hrafnsson and Tryggvi Lárusson, who were both recognized as finalists for the Creative Young Entrepreneur Award for creating a cloud solutions company dedicated to minimizing the CO2 footprint of the ICT industry.

Advania

We recently announced an exciting partnership with Advania (release in Icelandic), GreenQloud’s first enterprise reseller for Iceland.

Advania is a leading IT company, with more than 10,000 corporate clients and a focus on corporate social responsibility. Partnering with Advania will strengthen GreenQloud in the Icelandic market and enable Advania to offer a wider range of cloud solutions.

Showcasing GreenQloud

We’ve been involved in a number of events to raise GreenQloud’s profile and to entice prospective new employees to join our growing company. Are you interested in working at GreenQloud headquarters in Iceland? Visit our Career page to learn about current open positions.

Green ICT initiative

Bala giving a 5 min pitch

In late January, we attended a symposium in Stockholm at the invitation of the Embassy of Canada to discuss the Equation project, an initiative established in Québec to develop and commercialize energy-efficient green ICT (Information Communications Technology) solutions. We enjoyed the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to green ICT via our sustainable cloud computing solutions, the world over. As a result, there was an overwhelming request to set up GreenQloud in the Québec region, given the renewable energy availability and lack of cloud service providers. Find out more here.

UTmessan

UTmessan is an Icelandic expo aimed at highlighting the importance of information technology for individuals, businesses and Iceland. Our co-founder Eirikur Hrafnsson spoke about sustainability as a business growth strategy, and our team met with technical managers, programmers, computer science students, IT professionals and many families who were interested to find out more about GreenQloud for their businesses and home.

As a sponsor of the event, we really enjoyed hosting the UTmessan after party. We had a lot of fun mixing it up with key stakeholders in the Icelandic tech industry and reconnecting with friends of GreenQloud.
