In general, however, they reach a height of between 15-23 centimeters. Some have been known to attain a height of 30-38 centimeters. Temperament of an individual is highly dependent on the temperament of the parents and grandparents. These dogs attack people and other animals easily, which makes them unsuitable for homes that have small children. They tend to be fiercely loyal to one specific person. In some situations, they may become over-protective of the individual when they are around other people or animals.

Chihuahuas are very unfriendly to other dog breeds. However, they coexist well with other Chihuahuas. They can have some very extreme traits that one can rectify by socializing them from a tender age. Handling should be left to children who are at least thirteen years of age for safety purposes.
