Several places have fortress built on them in the past. Therefore, know the story behind the history Fort Myers Florida has.

This historic site was built in the city of Florida. According to the history of Fort Myers, the native Indians wanted to sojourn in that location. This was a good site for the protection of that location from constant aggression from the Indians and strategic in driving them out. This location was also good for business since the main source of transport for goods was carried out via the sea. Therefore, it was a suitable place.

The American soldiers were the first people who had the idea of constructing the garrison and immediately after it served its purpose, they abandoned it. However, they repossessed it again and they ended up using it only two times as a barracks. After they were done with using the garrison, they abandoned it again but this time a permanent settler and his family came and dwelt in it.

The core responsibility of the garrison was to offer protection and a place for putting the weapons for the soldiers. In a war, it is dangerous to keep your weapons without a proper protection against your enemies because they can use them against you. Therefore, the stronghold was the ideal place to keep the equipment because it gave an assurance that the Indians could not access them.

When the castle was built, its effect were parallel. This is because it affected both the Americans and the Indians. However, the beneficiaries of this fort were the Americans. They reaped the benefit of building it because it gave its soldiers an upper advantage against its ill-equipped enemies. Therefore, they were able to triumph in the war and the Indians had to surrender the land.

The position of the garrison was strategic in building trade within that area. Therefore, one most interesting and beneficial things was the ability to increase the trade in the region by bringing in goods from other continents. This is because the fortress was situated near the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic Ocean was prone to trade especially the slave trade, which was lucrative.

When the soldiers, the original owners and builders of the fort stayed in it, they were in charge of protecting it. It is obvious that when a war is fought damages do occur in the process. When the damages are not repaired then the fortress is likely to be brought down during the fight. Therefore, the builders of the fortress were responsible in keeping its walls strong from collapsing.

The climate of the region is also a factor that made it a suitable place of residence. Understand that many settlers came from very cold places in Europe. However, in this area, there is the tropical savannah climate. The temperatures in this place are averagely eighteen degrees Celsius. There is also sufficient rainfall and short but warm winters.
