The 'First Day of Summer' is approaching rapidly in Iceland, and things are heating up at GreenQloud's headquarters. We've been to many places, and going to even more - read on for details!

Don’t say goodbye, say hello

We’ve talked about it before, and it was inevitable – but that doesn’t mean making the decision to shut down our public cloud became any easier.

In addition to our announcement, our Chief Commercial Officer, Gísli Kr wrote an article (originally appearing on LinkedIn) that sums up the situation.

"The GreenQloud public cloud may say goodbye in October, but great service providers, like our friends at Advania who hosted our gear over the years, will keep the idea of Truly Green™ cloud computing alive: running on renewable energy, and powered by QStack."

It’s not easy to let go, but we’re extremely excited about what the future holds for QStack™ and GreenQloud!

Channel Partners

Speaking of QStack, we went to Las Vegas last month to host a cocktail reception with Rackspace and our friends at Nuvalo, and meet the key players of the cloud market.

The event was an astounding success, our demo environment was constantly in use to satisfy the interest, and we’re looking forward following up on the meetings, and working with our new partners in the future.

World Hosting Days

Our team barely got over the jetlag before we shipped them off to Rust, Germany to keep the momentum going!

The WHD event was great, with back-to-back meetings around the clock, showing QStack to service providers and other enterprises. Our CEO Jónsi Stefánsson also held an interactive talk about where the cloud market is heading, and why hybrid clouds like QStack will be a crucial component of the future.

Team Spark

We’ve been sponsoring the university racing team of Team Spark, and were excited to see them reveal their new car.

It was great to see such a gathering of young talents, and with QStack on their side (quite literally) they’re destined to win. (Besides: having your name on a race car is simply cool.)

Advania

Our friends at Advania held an open event earlier in April to introduce their new public cloud solution – Advania OpenCloud, which is built with QStack.

Our head of DevOps, Jón Arnar Guðmundsson, gave a presentation on QStack, focusing on the hybrid possibilities. The presentation was very well received, and we got a lot of questions and interest from attendees.

Coming up

SLUSH Reykjavik

We’ll be visiting Slush PLAY in Reykjavik at the end of April – to see how many others will follow CCP Games’ example for better infrastructure management!

FST Summit

We’re also looking forward to the FST Summit in Dublin next month!

We’ll be meeting with industry leaders to illustrate how QStack’s hybrid cloud capabilities can help solve the inherent conflict between compliance and innovation in enterprise infrastructure, especially for financial services.

Get in touch

We’re always happy to talk to friends, partners and prospective customers: if you’d like to schedule a meeting, drop us a line!
