Ok, so the weather in Iceland is eclectic, but that hasn't stopped us from doing awesome things! We've traveled to a few places, visited New Eden on the other side of a wormhole to get more women into the tech industry, and a lot more.

(Management's note: when asked, everybody was enthusiastic about meeting new people and promoting being Truly Green™ - never ever was the weather in Monaco and Greece mentioned, promise! :-P )

Greenpeace report card and the reception

Greenpeace has been monitoring the key players in ICT for years, and their latest report titled Click Clean: How Companies are Building the Green Internet updated the world on what's going on. Not only has GreenQloud been mentioned again, but an article in the Guardian followed up on the report and really positioned us as being ahead of the field.

Advania Data Center

Our press coverage didn't end here: we were named as a top vendor for disruption in European Cloud infrastructure by GigaOM. Their research paper was - as always - impeccable, well-written and a great indicator for 2014 and beyond.

Truly Green™, truly secure

It's been a great source of pride to receive our report card: A+ in security for our website! There's no better feeling than providing ease of mind to our customers and visitors.

Future Internet Assembly 2014, Athens

In March, we traveled to the cradle of European culture to discuss how the future development of the Internet is to sustain the networked society of tomorrow.  While we were in Athens we announced our collaboration with National Research and Education networks (NRENs) like SURFnet, universities, and data networks like GÉANT to provide cloud services to federated bodies through eduGAIN.

eduGain

GreenQloud provides public and private self service cloud storage and compute services to organizations federated through eduGAIN who wish to bring the benefits of cloud computing to their organization, using their existing authentication methods and identity management.

CleanEquity Monaco 2014

We then ventured to Monaco to meet with the leading startups and investors of cleantech. It was an incredible event, a great experience, and being named as runner up in Excellence in the Field of Environmental Technology Commercialisation was really an honor!

Women of New Eden

As part of our Women in Tech initiative we collaborated with our friends at CCP Games to explore the issues of women in gaming and game development. The turnout was brilliant, the conversation lively and the bagels tasty! We learned a lot, met a lot of people, and we're excited beyond words about our next event!

Earth Hour

We observed Earth Hour with the rest of the world - the only difference being that where everything else turned dark, GreenQloud (and Iceland) kept on shining. We didn't need to turn lights off, since we're already carbon neutral, and we believe it's high time that more areas keep shining on during this time.

Coming up!

We have a tremendous amount of things lined up:

  • Jónsi is settling in and we're working on a lot of things with him. It's an exciting time to be part of GreenQloud!
  • April is Earth Month and the perfect time to speak about sustainability and the dangers of carbon emissions, including getting involved with Earth Day.
  • Our next Women in Tech event will be held at GreenQloud HQ to talk about CSR and how women are driving the change in the field - and how we can accelerate it even further.
  • In Paris, the French-Icelandic Chamber of Commerce is offering an overview on business opportunities within the Icelandic tourism and film industry, and with fast-growing Icelandic startup companies - us included!

One last thing...

  • Remember, that if you need help with anything, check out our support pages or send us an email at support[at]greenqloud[dot]com.
  • Likewise, if you have any customer stories about how you’re using GreenQloud, with any tips and tricks that other users should know about, we’d love to hear from you.
