Whether living on, or visiting the East or West Coast, there are a number of options when it comes to exploring the ocean. While the Atlantic offers some of the deep sea fishing expeditions, the West offers more in the way of Island adventures and Whale Watching Catalina Island.

In either case, the Atlantic and Pacific offer a plethora of opportunities for deep sea fishing and viewing majestic sea creatures. When it comes to Two Harbor cruises on the West coast, those aboard one of the cruise ships often view not only whales but other sea creatures and wildlife. In addition, unlike other cruises of this nature, Two Harbors allows those aboard to spend a few hours perusing Catalina Island as part of the excursion.

When it comes to the two hour layover on the island, there are a number of options for dining and shopping. While this is the case, it is important that those traveling aboard the cruise return to the ship at the pick-up time provided. Otherwise, it can be quite costly for a return on the Catalina Flyer when missing the return trip.

On the return trip, the cruise continues along the coast, allowing ocean enthusiasts to view a variety of whales including Grey whales during migration and occasional sightings of larger whales along with Harbor seals which are often playful and plentiful in the area. In addition, it is not uncommon to spot bald eagles catching fish along the shoreline.

Once the vessel returns to home port on the mainland of Southern California, it can often be a great opportunity to explore one of the many harbor side restaurants and watch the sun set over the harbor. In addition, there are a number of docks which allow for a nice stroll either after or before dinner. For, there is nothing quite like a nice stroll, a lovely dinner and watching a beautiful sunset after a day of whale watching and sight seeing.

Pricing for the excursion can often vary depending on discounts and time of year. For, different times of year can be better for whale watching then others. At the same time, it is often rare that individuals take a cruise in which there is not some aspect of sea or wildlife viewing available. Whereas, the snack bar is open on each and every cruise with light snacks and lunches available for a nominal fee.

When it comes to eating and seating aboard the vessel, indoor and outdoor seating is available, with the outdoor seating accommodating approximately 30 individuals on a sundeck. Whereas, for those desiring a small snack or minimal lunch, there is a snack bar with food and drink available for a nominal fee. While this is the case, it should be noted that there are a number of restaurants on Catalina Island which offer amazing choices and lunch specials.

It should noted that Two Harbors can not be responsible if those attending a cruise miss departure from Newport Harbor or pick up at Catalina. As such, anyone requiring a return is responsible for the cost of the return trip. Whereas, it should also be noted that there can often be additional charges such as tax, fees and fuel charges in addition to the cost of tickets.
