Fall is upon us, and it's getting rainy and slightly colder here in Iceland - but GreenQloud happenings are heating up. Here's what we've been up to and what's coming your way!

Are you as happy about summer ending as we are? While vacations are ending, the amount of events and things to do that we have lined up warms our hearts (and sets our schedules on fire).

Promotions

Our team is growing and changing, as all teams do over time.

Recognizing talent and putting emphasis on nurturing it has always been a fundamental part of GreenQloud’s philosophy, and we were proud to recently promote several team members to exciting new roles.

  • Eirikur ‘Eiki’ Hrafnsson is taking on the challenge of building our US operations and team. We’re shipping him off in the next few weeks and he will serve as the COO for the US market.
  • Bjarni Júlíusson will be the COO of our European operations here in the Reykjavik office. He formerly served as our Head of Development.
  • Gísli Kristjánsson will assume the role of CCO (Chief Commercial Officer) where he will focus on developing and overseeing our channel and reseller partnerships. He was formerly our VP of Sales.
  • Jón Arnar Gúðmundsson will move into the Head of Development position, formerly occupied by Bjarni. He was formerly a lead developer on our team.
  • Sarah Cushing was promoted to Manager of Marketing and Communications. This is Sarah’s second promotion within the team this year.
  • Soffía Tryggvadóttir is now our Head of Business Development, and will manage all responsibilities related to customer fit, sales initiatives and partnerships.

Channel Partners New Orleans

Jónsi, Eiki, Gísli and a few others are currently in New Orleans, attending the Channel Partners event. Expect pictures soon! :-)

This event covers the current important topics vital for accelerating adoption and success in the cloud market. Here we will better understand industry trends, customer needs, and get a look into how GreenQloud can successfully meet the changing business demands of customers.

Coming up...

Advania Conference

On Friday, 12th September Advania will hold their annual Fall Conference (and a milestone one at that: the 20th!), where our CMO Paula Gould will speak about how differentiating yourself to gain your fair share of the multi-billion dollar industry that is cloud computing, and away from established brands, is one of the biggest challenges facing market newcomers.

She’ll highlight some of the key attributes GreenQloud uses to attract customers and outline strategies every company can use to identify their market sweet spot.

Nordunet

Our brilliant CTO, Tryggvi Lárusson travels to Sweden on the 23rd September, to speak at the prestigious Nordunet conference about hybrid clouds and open source as a key differentiator.

Tryggvi’s presentation will showcase how GreenQloud is using open source technologies in both its public and private cloud infrastructures, using case study examples of how we’re working with NRENs, such as SURFnet, GÉANT and VUMC. He’ll also outline the benefits of both public and private cloud models. This will include the many advantages the public cloud offers over the private virtualized environment, such as a self-service interface, API access, and ease-of-use. Tryggvi will demonstrate why hybrid is the best current solution for mixed workloads and compliance, and include examples of how CIOs and CTOs can prepare for a hybrid cloud future in a manner that aligns with sustainability strategies and minimizes the industry’s CO2 footprint.

IGAC

Carlos Maia, the Country Manager in GreenQloud’s Brazilian office will represent us in a poster session at IGAC, speaking about using renewables to power the Information Communications Technology (ICT) industry to significantly reduce the global CO2 footprint.

SXSW 2015

We’ve thrown our name in the hat for next year’s SXSW conference, to bless Austin with Eiki’s renowned presentation skills and showmanship. The voting is now over, thank you for your support, but the battle goes on: now it’s time for the judging panel to make their decision, so send good thoughts our way!

The presentation, titled ‘How Enterprise Business is Disrupting the Cloud‘, will outline the benefits of both public and private cloud models, and show how the cloud, that previously disrupted the enterprise, is now itself getting disrupted by the same enterprise. We’ll demonstrate why a hybrid model is the key to competitive differentiation, including how companies can prepare for a hybrid cloud future in a manner that aligns with 2020 sustainability strategies and addresses growing energy demands.
