A few seconds more adds 200,000 views

THE WHAT
A creator adds end-cards to his videos and is wowed by the results.

THE WHY
Creators have long featured end-cards in their videos, but are they really effective? Ryan Higa, one of YouTube’s biggest stars, had never used them -- he felt it was too salesy and might upset his audience. However, after a recent change of heart, Ryan added them to his latest videos, infusing them with his own voice and sense of humor. The result? He’s gained an average of 200,000 additional views per video, and 2.4 million more minutes of watch time.

THE LESSON
Even a top creator can benefit from “calls to action” at the end of a video. End-cards that stay true to the creator’s style and voice can drive views to other videos without upsetting fans.
