Getting a flat tire is one of the most discouraging things to a driver. If you ever find yourself in this situation with a trailer, you can use a roll on trailer jack to change the deflated tire. There are several steps that you can use to repair it with a lot of ease, without involving a mechanic.

When a vehicle gets a puncture, you should drive it to a safe place, away from potholes. The main reason why you should park the truck on level ground is to prevent it from toppling over when you lift the wheel. If you are operating the vehicle at night, you should turn on the headlights and the indicator lights to alert other motorists that there is ongoing maintenance.

Change the gear from the drive gear and let it rest on a parking gear to prevent the lorry from moving when changing the tire. The driver is also advised to engage any traffic officer on sight to warn other road users that there is maintenance going on. This method is applicable if the vehicle is being prepared by the highway.

Check whether the available jack is able to lift the trailer. You will find their specifications in the buyer manual. If the lorry is heavily loaded, offload some cargo until the truck attains the right mass. All of them come with a user manual to show how much weight they can lift without straining. Do not use one which can only support small weight since it will be damaged.

Put some objects behind the wheels to prevent the tires from rolling, as this is dangerous. Ensure the objects are in contact with the wheels to prevent any slight movement. Put a small object on the car jack that cannot scratch off the paint. If you are using a metal object to lift the car, you can cover it with a piece of paper.

Loosen the nuts until they are a few steps away from coming out of the wheel. Turn the jack to lift the tires that you want to operate on. Turn it until it is above the ground. While turning it, do not let any part of your body to lie under the truck, since a slight mistake might get the truck hit you

Use a spanner to loosen the nuts from the wheel. While removing them, observe if the lorry is making some noise. If there is some noise, find out whether the roll on is in position, since the sound might be caused by it moving out of its first place. If it has run out of its position, lower it until the tire gets to the ground and return it to its location.

After you have changed the tire, turn this on the opposite side until the tire gets to the ground. Take the blocks away and then put the lorry under a test. If you notice any hitches, correct them then put all the tools to their place before driving off. Clear all dirt or sharp objects from the road before driving off to protect other road users from getting punctures.
