Pressure washing is one of the processes that have been invented for removing dirt and other foreign materials from surfaces. It involves using high-pressure water spray, which is directed at the surface that needs to be cleaned. Some of the surfaces that can be cleaned using this method include concrete surfaces, vehicles and other metallic surfaces, and buildings. The machine that is used for power washing is referred to as a pressure or power washer.

Normally, the force with which the water is ejected is determined by how powerful the washer is. The force is expressed in either Pascal or bar and differs in accordance with the brand and size of the washer. This force can be varied through adjustments in the settings of the machine. The kind of work at hand usually guides a person in determining the amount of force needed in the water spray.

A wide variety of materials can be removed using this process. Such materials include chewing gum, mold, and loose paint among many others. This process is very effective for removal of surface debris. The process is usually used alone because it has a high level of efficiency. There is no need of using another method in addition to pressure washing. Another powerful version of this method of cleaning is called hydro-jet cleaning. This one is used for removing dirt in tanks and lines.

Besides cleaning surfaces, this technique can also be used for surface preparation. Surface preparation is usually an important process that must be done before a surface is painted. When surface preparation is done before paint is applied on a surface, it ensures that the paint sticks more effectively on the surface. Thus, the final finish is beautiful and appealing.

Surface preparation is not limited to painting it has applications in other processes such as paving and metalizing. Just like in painting the adhesion of metallic coat or pavement is greatly improved when the surfaces are prepared before the process begins. The resultant metalized or paved surfaces are more resistant to wear and tear besides the final more beautiful appearance. This means that surface preparation is a very important part of these processes.

Pressure washers are used in industries, homes, and commercial settings. Those that are used in industries and businesses are usually very large in size and generate a lot of force in water sprays. Such water sprays are usually very powerful and can remove a lot of debris in a single swipe. They are often operated with people who possess proper skills and experience in this field.

Besides being used in commercial and industrial settings, pressure washers also find a lot of use in individual homes. Many people today own these machines because the small varieties are smaller and cheaper to acquire. Those who own them usually find more use for them during summer when there is a lot of debris coming from vegetation around.

People put them to various uses including cleaning furniture, household appliances, vehicles, fences and walls. When cleaning delicate objects or surfaces the pressure is usually lowered to avoid damages. Most models meant for residential use run on electricity. As such, they are easy to manage and clean.
