When you are gluten intolerant, it is not always easy to find interesting and tasty treats to enjoy in. Some are complicated to prepare or require too much time. Well, this recipe is so simple that anyone can make these delicious and popular treats in maybe one hour or so. It's also quite cheap, and requires just a few basic ingredients, including gluten free flour, yeast, sugar and salt.

Although there are many different recipes, this recipe for celiac bagels is particularly simple. So, add two teaspoons of sugar into two cups of warm water, add two teaspoons of dry yeast and two cups of gluten free flour and mix well. Leave it like that for a few minutes, on some warm place. Mix three cups of gluten-free flour and two teaspoons of salt and gradually add to the batter.

If you think you should add more flour, you can, the point is to make one smooth, soft dough. You should cover it and leave it to rise. After maybe ten minutes or so, divide it into twelve parts. Form a nice little ring of each and place on a sheet to rise again. It will take for maybe ten minutes to rise slightly, covered with some cloth.

Meanwhile, warm up maybe one liter of water and a tablespoon of oil in the bowl. Put some of your bagels in simmering water and cook for about 40 seconds. Take them out on a paper towel and continue until all are cooked. Dust them with a piece of a paper towel and place on the greased sheet. Bake in a preheated oven for about fifteen to twenty minutes.

You might be a little bit surprised with the process of making this dough. Well, sugar and yeast work great together, but salt usually slows down this process. That's why you should wait before adding it in your mixture. This way your dough will rise faster, and you will spend less time making these tasty little treats. In fact, this works for all raised dough.

If you would like to make your bagels more tasty, you can use some whipped egg whites to coat the surface and sprinkle sesame or sugar on the top of each. Although these treats taste great as they are, they will be even better served with different spreads of your choice, for example with peanut butter or anything you find interesting.

If you enjoy making your own spreads, here is one simple but tasty idea. Mix together a little bit of fresh garlic, cream cheese, salt and a pinch of chili powder, to make one hot and exciting spread you will enjoy in. If you combine fresh cheese, whipped cream with a little bit of sugar and fresh fruits, this will become one luxuriously tasty bagel. Or simply add dry cranberries in your cream cheese and enjoy.

Freshly prepared bagels are really delicious, and if you try them with peanut butter and apricot marmalade, you certainly won't be disappointed. And another thing, you can also replace half of the water with milk, to make your favorite treats even tastier. If you cover them with melted chocolate and sprinkle with ground nuts, they will really become simply irresistible.
