Spring is coming, but whatever the weather, things are really warming up here at GreenQloud. We've been travelling the world, launching a new product, redesigning our website and that's just the tip of the iceberg (get it?) - keep reading to find out what else is going on.

Executive changes

We were thrilled to announce to the appointment of Bala Kamallaharan to GreenQloud's Board of Directors. Bala joined GreenQloud as CEO with the objective of leading the company towards global growth, building a team culture that rivals the best in the world and sourcing new funding opportunities. Having successfully completed these goals, the natural next step for him is to guide the team from the Board level. We also welcomed Jón Thorgrímur Stefánsson ("Jónsi") who was appointed as CEO of GreenQloud's European Operations. Jónsi will focus on positioning the company for greater growth within the European market.

QStack

We announced QStack, our hybrid/private cloud solution. QStack enables companies to take advantage of GreenQloud’s public cloud software on their own infrastructure (private cloud) and allows for burstability into our clean renewable energy-powered public cloud (hybrid cloud). This solution allows for a more conservative investment into IT infrastructure, solves the problem of scalability in the face of changing demands and encourages the adoption of sustainable cloud practices.

We're also excited to...

Announce Advania as the first enterprise reseller of GreenQloud for the Nordics and have you noticed our new website? It's easier to navigate and prettier to look at. We're still tweaking it so any comments or suggestions are welcome!

Cloud Expo

Our Qloudvikings set sail to London, to participate in Cloud Expo Europe 2014, strut our stuff and see what's happening in the industry. We had a blast, the visitors loved QStack and our hybrid approach, and the chance to win a trip to Iceland.

2Degrees

In a physics-defying fashion we moved our booth from Cloud Expo to 2 Degrees Live in just a few hours, because we wanted to participate in the workshop centered around sustainability - something we deeply care about. The event was phenomenal and helped raise recognition about the need for greater transparency and sustainability in the data supply chain.

It’s exciting to see big companies taking steps to commit to safe and sustainable business practices. Interestingly, with all of the supply chain efficiency and sustainability discussions taking place at conferences and symposiums throughout the world, we've  found that very few were looking at their data’s carbon footprint when analyzing their supply chain. We were thanked for addressing this hidden issue and thrilled to help show companies how to green their data.

Coming up...

In March we have a lot of things coming your way, and we're excited to give you a sneak-peak of what's happening:

Women's History Month

We've always had an interest in raising awareness of diversity issues, particularly women in technology. Speaking of this, the next Women in Tech event will be held on 18 March at CCP in Reykjavik and we'd love to see you!

March is also Women's History month, and includes International Women's Day (March 8). To celebrate, we'll be acknowledging the women in our lives and recognize the many contributions women have made to society and business.

Startups

We've also designated March as "startup month"and are working hard with the participants in our Startup Program because we feel we can and should do more for the community. We're also focusing on the troubles, questions and issues startups face, in the perspective of cloud technology.

Clean Equity

We are thrilled to be invited to the Clean Equity event in Monaco. As the world's first Truly Green™ cloud solutions company we take clean tech very seriously and are looking forward to catching a glimpse of the future's disruptive technology.

Future Internet Assembly

We truly believe that cloud technology is the fundamental building block in the infrastructure the Internet stands on. We're going to Athens on the 18-20th March to meet with key internet stakeholders, learn a lot about their vision and opinions, and maybe teach them a thing or two about how things are done in a sustainable, Truly Green™ style.

Earth Hour

We'll not only observe Earth Hour (although with our Truly Green™ VMs, every hour is Earth Hour :-) on 29 March, but will use this opportunity to talk more about sustainability, our responsibility towards the environment, and what we can all do to preserve and protect our planet. April is also Earth Month, and once again, we'll be highlighting various ways to be more sustainable.
