Five Fast Factoids About The E-Cigarette

By Billy Genthner

Electronic Cigarettes continue to grow in popularity, and there are many reasons why people prefer them over a traditional tobacco cigarette. Unlike regular cigarettes, they pose no fire hazard, do not emit noxious fumes and you can smoke them in public places where regular cigarettes are not allowed. Here are some quick facts about E-Cigarettes.

1. There Are Many Names For Electronic Cigarettes

Technically, these cigarettes are officially electronic cigarettes, but they are also simply called E-Cigarettes or E-Cigs. A few other names for them include PV, which stands for personal vaporizer. They also can be called electronic nicotine delivery systems or perhaps by the initials ENDS. However, it is important to note that not all electronic cigarettes have nicotine.

2. Electronic Cigarettes Are Not A New Idea

It might seem like it has only been within the last five or so years that E-Cigarettes have been around, but the first patent for a smokeless type of cigarette was granted way back in 1963. In the 1980s, a smokeless cigarette called Premiers was created by RJ Reynolds, the maker of traditional cigarettes such as Winston's and Camels. However, this was not popular with consumers. Eventually, this company created an electronic cigarette similar to those you can buy today, but it wasn't until 2003 that a true vapor electronic cigarette was invented by a pharmacist in China.

3. E-Cigs Are Fire Safe & Don't Produce Secondhand Smoke.

One of the coolest things about E-Cigs is that unlike a regular cigarette, there is no secondhand smoke. The E-Cigarettes emit a fine vapor that dissipates quickly, producing no smoke and very little odor. There is no tobacco and no possibility of fire when using electronic cigarettes. Smoking cigarettes is the leading cause of house fires in the United States, but with E-Cigs, you eliminate this risk entirely.

4. Electronic Cigarettes Save You Money

The cost of a pack of cigarettes varies depending on where you live. For instance, you might pay $5 per pack in some areas, while others, such as New York, heavily tax tobacco products and a pack of cigarettes can cost more than $12. If you are a pack-a-day smoker, you can easily spend more than $1,500 per year on tobacco products. With E-Cigs, however, the cost is far lower and you can save hundreds of dollars switching over to E-Cigarettes. You do have to spend some money to purchase a starter kit, which ranges from $25 to $75, but after that the cost for refills is much more affordable and might even be half that of tobacco products.

5. Electronic Cigarettes Provide Great Variety

Let's face it, with tobacco cigarettes the choices are pretty slim, but with electronic cigarettes, there are many flavor options and trying them all out is a huge part of the fun. Vype Vapor, for instance, is a vape shop located in Las Vegas and they have created more than two dozen amazing E-liquid varieties and continue to come up with new custom liquids. This vape store sells flavors such as chocolate mint chip, peach, butterscotch or tropic E-liquid, as well as blends with a hint of traditional tobacco flavor.
